The thing I love about Árstíðir is that no matter the format, I can feel their pure passion reverberating through their music.
Be it their "signature style" folk, their more modern and pop-oriented "BLIK", or this pure acapella style.
In a way, this is a "coming back to the roots", since like many, I too was introduced to Árstíðir through that one YouTube performance of "Heyr himna smiður".
Since then, I am very happy to experience each new release from them, all filled with love and talent <3 Favorite track: Heyr himna smiður.

Árstíðir gained international recognition in 2013 when a video of their spontaneous performance of "Heyr himna smiður"—the oldest preserved Nordic hymn—went viral. Recorded in a German train station, this rendition struck a chord with audiences worldwide.
Since then, the members of Árstíðir have gathered various a cappella songs to hone their vocal skills, occasionally incorporating them into their live performances. Eventually, the band decided to record some of their favorite pieces they’ve sung over the years.
"Vetrarsól - Voices of the Winter Sun" is the result of this effort—a thoughtfully curated collection of traditional Icelandic vocal and choral songs that showcases the rich cultural heritage of their homeland.
The album is also available on CD and vinyl at arstidir.merchstore.nl

Myrkur aka Amalie Bruun has been known as a metal artist, although one not to play by the rules, which seemed to engage one or the other purist. Well, their bad - give me change, give me diversity! This is not a metal album by no means, but Amalie revisiting her Scandinavian roots with a collection of folk songs, old and new. The old Nordic tale/song Ramond has been covered many times in the last decades, and often, to close the circle, by metal or metal-related artists.
